International Fellowship of Flying Rotarians – Benelux Section

Fly-In Twente (Enschede) – 2026

Fly-In Twente (Enschede) – 2026

Dear all,
I am thrilled to give you a sneak peek of the Benelux Section’s Fly-In at Twente Air Base, taking place from
29 to 31 May 2026—a unique experience at an airport we have never visited before.

Twente is no ordinary airfield. Once a military base, it still operates under strict security protocols. Thanks to my former Air Force contacts, we have secured special access, allowing us to land at the airfield (PPR) and stay for two nights in one of the safest locations imaginable.
Customs clearance will even take place on site, ensuring a smooth arrival.
One remark, only Jet-A1 is available on the field.

Programme

On Friday afternoon, after welcoming our international guests, a few of my former colleagues
will take us on an exclusive tour of the restricted areas. You’ll explore a former F-16 shelter
and discover remnants of the Cold War, complete with fascinating stories and insights.

Next, we will visit the Technology Base, a hub of sustainable aviation and innovative mobility
solutions. Here, a modern aircraft dismantling company recovers valuable components from
Airbuses and Boeings, while a pioneering drone developer showcases products now deployed
on a large scale in Ukraine.

Following our adventures at the air base, we’ll head to Enschede by bus, where we will stay
at the Intercity Hotel in the city centre for two nights.

On Saturday morning, we will explore the city on foot, including the vibrant new district rebuilt after the fireworks disaster—an area attracting lovers of architecture and urban development. Our programme also includes a visit to a fascinating technical museum.

Saturday evening will be a highlight: our traditional gala dinner, culminating in a lively and unforgettable party. On Sunday morning, everyone will depart at their leisure, with memories of an extraordinary weekend.
